The Pakistan Association of Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgeons (PACVTS) has conferred a Lifetime Achievement Award upon Dr. Abdul Bari Khan, President of the Indus Hospital & Health Network. This recognition honors his outstanding and awe-inspiring efforts, uplifting the health of people in Pakistan and abroad, especially the underprivileged and underserved.

Dr. Abdul Bari Khan is a cardiologist, philanthropist, and humanitarian and is one of the co-founders of IHHN. After witnessing the dismal conditions of government-run hospitals and the plight of poverty-stricken patients following the 1986 Karachi twin bomb blasts, Dr. Bari envisioned the creation of a multi-disciplinary tertiary care hospital. This hospital would serve the underprivileged population of Karachi with free and quality care. In 2007, he and other co-founders established The Indus Hospital (TIH) in Korangi, Karachi, to provide indiscriminate, quality healthcare to all in a state-of-the-art paperless hospital. TIH has now grown into the Indus Hospital & Health Network, Pakistan’s largest nationwide healthcare network in the private sector, providing quality care to more than 6 million patients annually.

PACVTS comprises Pakistan’s foremost cardiovascular and thoracic surgeons. Established in 1991, its aim is to promote charity and advance the well-being and health of the people of Pakistan. The association seeks to help and promote the care of patients with cardiovascular and thoracic diseases, carry out research, and award research fellowships and scholarships to trainees.

IHHN takes great pride in marking this award and recognizing its Founder whose dream, hard work, and unshakeable faith in the Almighty (SWT) made IHHN a reality. His tireless efforts, as well as that of the people of Indus, enable IHHN to continue to save the lives of countless needy patients and their families.
